Any of you ex BMW owners know whether its possible to de-restrict the top speed on the newer models , ie 2008 650i , as i understand it all Bm's Mercs and Audi's are retricted to 155

I think on some BMW's, especially the M cars, the factory can de restrict the car for you at a cost option.

Just read up on it Adam , seems the general consensus is that to order one from the dealer deristricted you have to show either a racing license or have done the BMW driving course , or just pay DMS a few bob to remove it after you have taken delivery , and it doesn't affect the warranty , there was a scaremonger rumour that it did , so in that case i may well take a pop at this for Kaz and a a replacement for the CLK, only if it goes for the right money , just had a quick look on Autotrader and around they dont command to high premium, so could be a lot of car for the money and a convertible to boot

You are right Loz...When I had my CSL BMW would do it but I would have to show a racing licence...I believe it can only be done in Germany at the factory as well....But I believe there are plenty of specialist that may be able to help these days....

They you go Dem, your new career. Get a laptop, and a bit of know how, then you can go round uploading performance maps, de restricting and how shall I put it, em, mileage correction!

If you were to do a dent removal course to, I recon you would be in great demand.
