How can we buy it??
How can we buy it??
Still in beta, so not yet!How can we buy it??
Not sure that is where you plug it in......
Had someone look at my continuing frustrations with the olde OEM G2 fitted 'phone on my QP '08MY. Just got: "it's a hardware fault, sir!" and a bill.
The 'phone hadset doesn't light up with a tested and working G2-compatible SD card, and the 'phone button pressed. All that comes up is:
View attachment 73357
The mechanics did tell me that all the connectors appear connected. But they didn't have the diagnostics to go into it.
Is the upcoming specialist diagnostic software now in beta able to interrogate this system in more detail. I had someone do a diagnostic when I purchased the car
using a Texa TGS3s. I don't know whether that would see my headunit in more detail to see whether the 'phone's been switched off in setup (Tel - off on display)
That Texa scan reported "Telematic Board Module Magneti Marelli -
Infotelematic node (NIT) P (ECU recognised) Faults: Yes
I did try my iCarsoft (that's coded for Landrover and Jaguars) in "P code" mode. But as soon as I put the connector in, the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Quickly removed!
What is the signifigance of the "Tel Off" message in the bottom right of the screen?
How can that be changed to "Tel On"
Is there a toggle in diagnostics?
I want this to work!
Will EasyMAS handle this sort of job? Don't even know if such a toggle exists and is accessable?
I had a genuine copy of VagCom when I was a VW-head and there was quite a selection of features that could be turned on or off (eg indicators as DRLs and intensity, etc)
Grateful for replies...
Hi ,
Sorry the first release of EasyMAS will not support the NIT.
We will look into this issue and get back to you if anything of help is found.
Regards
Steve
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
Mechanics have Leonarod. The error was cleared but it returned
Fair do's: mechanics got onto Leonarod who seemed to think there's a hardware fault with the 'phone unit. I assume mechanics have checked all the plugs are in and there's power to the unit. So am hunting around for a replacement module

If it proves to be a hardware fault and you end up changing the phone unit. Be careful the replacement doesnt originate from a USA vehicle as the opertating frequencies will be different 1700/2100mhz i think.
Not sure the US actually got the option for the car phone, but maybe I'm thinking of the 4200.
Certainly on the 4200 it is 2G and works very well with giffgaff (o2)
I'll be upset if 2G is dropped.
Quite a few alarm systems etc still use 2G systems so it will be a big decision to switch it off.
If you put a non validated Giffgaff sim it will show up signal strength in a 4200.
Giffgaff don't cut off after only a month, you get an email from them asking if you are a light user etc.
I tried the Range Rover's Vodafone SIM in the QP5. Still "Tel:OFF" and a full screen message: "Telephone is not available". Hmmm.
There appears to be modules referenced in the helpful replies to this thread: a "GSM module" and a "NIT" and a "GSM CAN module" and a "phone unit". Are these different seperate units or alternative names for the same unit?
TGS3s is a little bit more detailed: "Telematic Board Module Magneti Marelli - Infotelematic node (NIT) Status Recognised Faults Yes" I would want to try and find a UK version of that. Does that mean that the NIT (is that a discrete module, what do the letters mean?) should be changed as the Telematic board is reporting a fault in it to the CAN bus?
Unless anyone can guide me better...
Thanks for the reply... The head unit (apart from the 'phone) works as it should. We've just replaced the CD Changer for a Loudlink unit
(do get the Flash ROM updates from their website for the M139, there's three of them there to be installed oldest first V2530 (2017), V2532 (Jan 2018), and V2533 (Feb 2018) ) And that's working too.
So it's out searching for the GSM CAN Module. I believe it's the one I pictured earlier in thread? But that's out in Oz so could be different 'phone system specs (?):
