Driving Yorkshire area

I will be in the Ripon area next week, can anyone suggest any decent drives, maybe an hour or two around that location?

Here is a link to a drive we did in the spring. Up over Buttertubs Pass which is a great road and should be nice and quiet at this time of year, down past the Ribblehead Viaduct, through Malham and finishing at a nice pub.

From Ripon I'd go via Sutton Bank (visitor centre/coffee stop/view) then take the A170 to Pickering, it's a nice drive.

I used to find myself in Skipton for work on a semi-regular basis and always stayed at the Devonshire Arms.

Great hotel and roads.

If you stop at Sutton Bank watch out for the big granite kerbs at the entrance to the car park........

I'd also recommend going over Blakey Ridge (turn off the A170 towards Hutton le Hole just after Kirby Moorside). Great road and some nice pubs if you want to stop.

Once again thanks for the advice, depending on a few things I maybe up that way as early as next week.

I’ve said it before, but be very careful or you will get nicked. The NYPD* are a nightmare, they are at permanent war with drivers, seemingly at the expense of doing any actual police work. Long distance or “hidden” mobile cameras are your enemy.
I’m a proud Yorkshireman, we have the best of pretty much everything including roads. Worst police though.
