So then, you're driving along a motorway you've passed a junction and are approaching a slip road with traffic joining the main carriageway. As you are level with the slip road, the car to your left in the slip road has matched your speed (70mph).
There is nothing in the outside lane.

Do you:
A) Maintain your speed and course so that the car joining the motorway adjusts theirs (they give way to you)
B) Speed up, above the limit, to allow the driver to your left room to join the carriageway behind you.
C) Slow down, below the limit, to allow the driver to your left room to join the carriageway in front of you.
D) Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre into the empty outside lane, allowing the other car plenty of room to do what he wants.

If you are in the GTS

Indicate right.............
move to fast lane and floor it up to 150mph..........whilst screaming loudly................

Depends on a lot of things but for me, D would be the most courteous.

[smart ar5e]You should, of course, have seen the scnario coming so should know if there's anything around you./smart ar5e]

I agree but you need to wait until he is just past you, then change up as you pass,

PS if on two wheels make sure front one is in the air as you pass

The answer is quite simple. Its D unless the car in question is an Audi or BMW, in that case, rule A

Simples!

d) is the right answer. a), b) & c) could make either driver brake or accelerate suddenly which is 'dangerous'.

I did an advanced driving course a few years ago and actually leant quite a lot, did the old running comentry whilst driving and drove 90 miles on the motorway without touching the brakes once.

Ah-ha, you appear to have pre-empted where I was going....
I asked the same question on the Lotus forum and got pretty much all D's, until I mentioned that I'd experienced quite a few people recently blocking me from joining the carriageway and flooring it to maintain the block in my.....X5. Then the mood changed to "it's your fault" "C0cks drive BMWs" etc.

Interesting how people's attitudes to different cars effect their driving style so much. It may also be that the 350BHP X5 is actually quicker than most stuff and so I enjoy out powering the euroboxes (childish I know), which possibly irritates people.

Or maybe it is because c0cks drive BMWs.... :shh:
