That new Exige is one of the best proportioned mid-engined cars I have ever seen!

I know you can hardly compare the two as they are so far apart price and technology wise... but as a 'pure' car for handling and track stuff, with the ability to drive home afterwards or head to Le Mans for the week, I bet it would give the new McLaren a run for it's money. £55k is a lot... but that would murder a 911 and is a fraction of the cost of Nobles and so on.

Well done Lotus, that will sell far better than the Evora I think :)

Agree Lewis, it will be one heck of a well sorted car in terms of power and handling. Too pricey for my liking though.

Like you Adam, I always think in terms of second hand cars... so £55k buys you a GranTursimo, Gallardo, 4.7 Vantage, 911 Turbo or an F430! But as a new car... not much else that will compete with that, that's Cayman R / Boxster Spyder money and it'd trounce them I'd bet.

Exactly right Lewis, i have always told myself i will never buy a new car unless i won the lotto, cant bear to think of the depreciation and the second hand bargains out there are too good to be ignored.

Is it too much for a V6 sports car that will no doubt handle better than most and probably be quicker than cars costing twice as much.............You are thinking of Lotus as a 27k Elise maker and that is clouding you view.......The last15 years Lotus have concentrated onthat market and the track day market but you can not survive tyhese days on a limieted market so need to move into other sectors...Sectors that they left in the 80's and early 90's..........

You must remember that the Esprit, Excel etc were always aimmed at a higher end of the market but cost less than its rivals and thats where Lotus are going no......The new Esprit will be 120kish and be aimed at the 458 which cost's loads more.....Lotus are just taking up the position they left in 80's Adam..........For me I like the direction they are going and really hope it works for them as the new cars they plan to built are some of the best looking cars on the road and for me if the Esprit drives and handles as well as it looks I would take it over it's rivals.......

I just could not spend 60k on a Lotus, they maybe a great car but just wait a little while and they will fall in value. I cant see people spending 120k on an Esprit and 130k on the Eterne, 4 door Panamera rival.

For the Esprit yes, but not the Eterne, that wont sell IMO, Aston cant sell the Rapide to save their life, discounts on them already.

See can understand that as its just not a well proprtioned car...Its a stretched DB9 that just doesn't work...

Changing the subject for a moment...Looking forward to BMW getting back into DTM......This looks an animal...

I do like the DTM...Not so much these days as not many in it but a number of years back it was brilliant...Looks like a few more are getting on the grid next year so may get back to the glory years...
