Disabling alarm on a 3200GT

Hi,
Since drives with the 3200GT are relative few during winter (once a month at most), I decided to unplug the battery on the car when parked. When taking the car out for the occasional drive, I just plug the battery again and the car fires up immediately. However, the emergency lights come on (the alarm, I suppose), blinking a cycle of perhaps 4-5 times, and do so in a series of perhaps 4-5 rounds. They then stop and do not return, unless I open a door. If I do, the alarm cycle starts again. The small red (alarm) light in the instrument cluster stays on all the time.

Any tips on how to "disable" the alarm?

You use the button on the key fob to turn the alarm on and off. It sounds like your siren isn’t working.

I see. Thanks. I have locked/unlocked the doors using the key (since the battery has been unplugged...), and obviously forgotten that the alarm itself needs to disabled with the key fob
