We went to VW In stockport and honestly said we were undecided on a golf or polo, to which the salesman said "look if you can't decide I need to go and speak to another customer " so we told the manager how rude he was and went to Audi ( see my previous post on that one ! )

I would have exactly the same, but sent the Sales Director of VW a note saying what had happened..!!

No surprise to me, many years ago I used to work in car sales and it was the same then, it seems to be a breed of person, or the training they get, a bit like dodgy door to door encyclopedia salesmen, I used to be one of those too many years back. I progressed in sales to International Director level, when I worked for others, because I got the client what they wanted and on time, they could always get me on the phone, it could be more business..!!

Exactly right, Robert. It's customers that put food on your table and if treat them like **** they'll deal with someone else instead. I'm amazed that where there are so many cars and car dealers to choose from the sales people aren't a little smarter about how they treat customers and prospects.

I'm amazed at the apathy of many so-called sales people at dealerships. I've walked out of a Mercedes and an Audi showroom before as the multitude busying themselves at their desks didn't even look up or offer any service whatsoever. My best experiences were at a local Aston dealer when I was considering a V8 Vantage - went just to look and ended up on a hour long test drive with the Aston driving instructor at very sprinted speeds which he commanded me to do! The other was at a Ford dealer when I bought Mrs MAF's wagon almost 2 years ago. The whole sales team were brilliant, making sure they spoke to her at least as much as me (she gets very upset when the car is for her and they only talk to me) and nothing was too much trouble. Mind you, I realised I'd just bought the most expensive car Ford offered and loaded it with goodies, so I suppose their attention should have been as it was!!

Zero excuses for any salesperson not to give you full and well mannered attention, I have sacked a few for not understanding that, even after training..!!
