Hey guys,
check this link out and tell me what you think. They have data charts as well for some of the Ferrari models etc. http://www.autoenginuity.com/products/oe-coverage-options/ferrari-maserati-ei18.html

@Catman we were talking about our OBD 2 phone software over on Maserati life. Take a look at this for me brother, tell me what you think. I am also on a Ferrari chat site that's local to Boston, great group of guys. As far as I knew only SD2/3 tools or the like could handle resetting codes, like for instance, our air bag systems. Anyway, not trying to make this long, when you read it you'll understand why I am asking.

quite interesting, but at what price?

And, it says it covers vechicles from 1995 to 2011, but the 4200 is not included. Any thoughts?

Lol......well I'm not sure that's why I asked.. I don't know anything about the system. There's a Ferrari Tech that referred me to the site.. he stated he's using it. I don't know how it would only be applicable for some Maseratis and not others in the same year......for instance, there's some charts for an 05' Quattroportte at the bottom of that link. It would seem strange to me if it could read and reset codes in that how it wouldn't in an 05' coupe or spyder. I know Maseratis are expensive but they aren't going to waste money to change every cars control systems so that they need a different software to read each one. Again, I don't know, I do know the consensus as far as I knew, and I had to do it with mine after the air bag was set off that you had to take it to the dealer to get the SRS reset. I have a good guy at an Aston Martin dealer who did it, but just trying to find someone who has some experience with software like this......The pricing should be on that site somewhere for it.

If it covers the QP, it should cover the 4200/GS, maybe just an 'oversight'
But yes, how much?

Well, I think they were saying it was right at $4000 USD I am trying to get more information as we speak. I might have to just call them.......Even at $4000 it might be worth it, if we could ascertain whether we can tap into everything we need to bring the car into the dealer for. I might have to sell off some of my expensive guitars.....but.....I think it might be worth it....

Theres no price on the site. Every other car type it covers has a price. For Ferrari/Maserati it says..."call to order".

No reason it should cover the 4200/GS. It will probably work ok as an OBDII tool just fine. What else it would cover depends on the bus coding. Some functions will work, others wont. They've either not tested it or have tested it and decided not to bother as it would mean too much recoding for the size of the market

You'd be surprised how many changes manufacturers make on the bus; LandRovers change with each new model release - so Discovery 3 and 4 readers arent interchangable for instance.

The thing thats not clear from the site is if it's locked down. Quite a lot of these tools are coded to a particular VIN - you have to send it off to be recoded and pay a fee if you change car. Or pay much higher "professional" fee to have it unlocked.

Also says it needs the ProLine with European expansion. I'm assuming that's another expensive piece of kit?

In short, I think I'd want to be *very* sure what its cost and capabilities are.

In line with Grinzz, I was talking with Felice the other day. He pays £400 per quarter simply to keep his Alfa diagnostic stuff up to date. Clearly for things like the 4200 and (I guess) GS / QPV there won't be any further revisions, but I can see limited usefulness for more modern cars.

On the plus side....

Theyre ruddy useful - going to get something similar for the disco to replace the faultmate I had for the disco 3.
Even if theyre coded to a VIN they hold their value (provided they can be recoded)
With older cars you dont need to worry too much about updates.
