Hi all,

So had the GTS for 6 weeks and today spotted rear flat grrrr anyhow not had a good look yet but i guess i have a few options, depth on the rear is 6mm so not too old either but just wanted some advice on which might be the simplest option. Car is on the drive at home so i guess it will be a mobile fitting.

1. Try and get it repaired either take it off and go to kwik fit or similar
2. Replace the single tyre with a nearly new of similar tread to the other rear
3. Buy a new tyre to replace the punctured one
4. Buy a set of rears

I guess the tyre is easy to get off but have a small issue of no jack :S so i guess either way it will be a mobile fitting but prices are all that bad, i've found a few single replacement tyres on eBay at around 70-150£ or new is £230 ish.

Any advise would be helpful.

I'd put a new one on if the other one is not worn much like this one (you say 6mm so it's pretty meaty). Try local ATS as they do have a mobile fitter for events like this!

Buy a jack, chock the wheels carefully and remove. Take to fitter who can supply the same brand and size as you have and you should be fine to replace the punctured tyre only. May even be fixable if it went in straight.

Kwik fit do a mobile service. Ben, the guy that does Lowestoft is pretty good and takes good care of the car and wheels.

If you need a trolley jack, I can run one over to you later. I won't need it back for a few days as I'm off down to Cornwall for the weekend on Friday.

Very kind of you Trev, but A)I would be uneasy removing and reattaching a wheel on a car like this silly i know but not mechanically minded, B)Kwik fit if i go that route charge £15 for a fitting mobile

That's odd. I had four Pilot Sport 4s fitted to the Alfa a couple of weeks ago and they didn't charge any extra for mobile fitting (booked online). Maybe it was because I has a full set. Don't think they charged extra when I had some rears on the Maser last year either. Anyway, the offer is there if you need it, just let me know before tomorrow evening. I can take it off for you, but won't be about until Tuesday to put it back on.

Seriously, any issue with a Pirelli tyre should instantly be taken as the opportunity to change all 4 tyres to something better. Try Michelin Pilot Sports, Conti 5 or 6 or frankly any other tyre and you will find it's a revelation.
