Couple of Questions.

What's the Cambelt change interval, are they age or mileage dated,
Why use Selenia oil, I have really bad issues with this oil from a previous race engine,
The engine check light has a mind of it's own....... comes on, goes out, comes on & stays on, doesn't come on, weird?
I'm looking at using a Renault Megane wheel as a spare, they are 5X108 PCD, and should clear the front Calipers, they are cheap to buy.

Hi Hu,

Cambelt depends a bit on age and mileage. Realistically somewhere between 50 & 60K, but a regular belt check should be done to be safe.
Oil on the 3200 (I think that's what you have), has to be 10w60, nothing less. The turbo's get so hot that anything under 60 will kill them. I use Selenia Racing 10w60 in our AC without any problems at all. Hunt around but get the best 10w60 you can, these engines need it.
Engine check light on and off, sounds as though you have an intermittant issue, could be a sensor. If you can get it in to an indie for an SD2/3 check, this should tell what codes are involved and hopefully an easy fix.
Wheel, never thought of a Renault wheel, I suppose if it fits and clears the calipers, then it should do as a get you home spare.
Cheers

Hi

Cam belts are 32k or every 3 years, oil as stated above shpould be 10 - 60 and should be changed every year or 6k miles which ever comes sooner. I use Selenia which is what Maserati recommend but others do use Castrol and other leading brands.

The engine check light is as Robert suggests indicating a problem which could be aminor sensor or an indication of a more serious problem like a throttle body. If possible get it checked at a dealer or good indi, these things onlu tend to get worse and hinder poerformance.

The spare wheel idea is new thinking and could be a great cost saving if it fits. I would suggest that as well as the wheel being 17 inch as per maserati specification the tyre size also need to match so that the diameter is the same as the road wheels.
