Considering a 2019 Land Rover Discovery with Minor Cosmetic Issues

Hey everyone!

I’m checking out a 2019 Land Rover Discovery HSE at a non-Land Rover dealer. It’s got around 60K miles, and while it drives great, I noticed some uneven paint on the passenger door and minor scuffs on the bumper. I asked for a pre-purchase inspection, and the report came back with no major issues on the engine or electronics, but it seems like the door might have been repainted at some point.

Carfax doesn’t show any accidents, but I’m not sure if I should be concerned about potential hidden damage or just negotiate a lower price. Anyone else had experience with buying one like this? Worth it or keep looking?

Not sure what the intended use is for, however.
Check it has the right gearbox configuration if you intend to tow heavy items.
Transfer boxes are a know weakness if using hard.
Leaking windscreens and
Infotainment system can be slow to respond along with other electrical gubbins.
The neighbours have 2 as the company's vans, they work them very hard towing plant. They will not have them after the warranty expires due to cost and fragility.
The 2024 one they have was just off the road for 3 months awaiting a new gearbox at 13k miles.

The Ingenium engine is one of the worst modern engine with many documented issues so buyer be aware.
Yep. My BIL has an F PACE with one fitted. 50k miles and now scrap. It’s a complete scandal that they continue to fit them are still recommending the same erroneous oil change/service numbers etc.

Along with the Ford eco boost engines there's some shockers out there for sure.

If you have to ask the question, I would suggest this car is not for you.

Had the unpleasant task a few weeks ago of telling somebody with a 1ltr eco boom engined focus that their brake problem was actually down to the wet belts in the engine shredding. The car needs either an expensive repair or write off for little more than scrap value.

To think that engine won awards at the expense of the end users pockets and ford have only just done anything to address the issue after 12 years of production.

Can't believe how anyone in their right mind thought it was a good idea to run a rubber belt in oil.
Nothing wrong with a cam belt if they are serviced properly.
Myself I prefer a nice duplex chain being a Dinosaur.

Wait folks! The Discovery never had the ingenium 2.0 diesel! Only the fab V6 Lion 3.0 diesel.
Very reliable and punchy, even under the Disco.
I wouldn’t worry much about a panel not properly painted. They are large cars and if used in town and supermarkets it’s easy to get them scratched and banged :)
Gearbox of the Disco/Range are well over engineered. They are not known to fail. Some will.
Budget for suspension airbags every now and then. It’s 5/600 per corner. Not cheap but the Disco rides on clouds. very close the fat Range Rover on the road.
Not cheap to maintain including insurance in certain areas but overall if you need the space and capability there are not many other cars around offering the same appeal.

I thought it did. When I was looking at replacing my D4 with the 5 I thought there was the top spec two litre version on the price list. Glad I dodged the D5 mind as it just looks odd.

Meantime I had a look again and you are right, the 2.0 Ingenius at some point was under both range sport and disco 5. Crappy engine as said. In 2016 I had bought the Jaguar XF with 2.0 diesel and I have returned it 4 months later and swopped it to 3.0v6.
