Confirmed covid 19 and recovery

Mr Harry (Jon) still hasn’t improved. The 111 doctors have said again that if he is breathing OK, he should stay in bed at home. It is really difficult for him to sleep and he can’t eat as the coughing makes him sick. I’ve just heard from a newly qualified doc (a cousin’s daughter) that days 7 to 11 are the worst and then people should recover. She’s working on the Covid front line in Birmingham. I’ve got an oxygen saturation monitor arriving today and we have a blood pressure monitor. If Jon was the PM, he’d be into hospital like an effing shot.
I’m glad things are moving forward Ryan.
Helen X

The 7-11 day thing has been mentioned quite a bit Helen. If you get to day 11 and no improvement I’d insist on being admitted through 111
Just tell them you want a chest X-ray doing as it’s the pneumonia that is the worry.

The saturation monitor is excellent for monitoring, the whole recovery is based around saturation, I went as low as 82%.
I’m now sitting around 94-95 and can make it go higher with deep breathing. The advise we got was 92 or lower when resting you should be admitted

Thoughts are with you and Jon for a speedy recovery

So folks that’s me back home and Covid free. Just walked into the house an hour ago.

I have a long recovery from the effects and the pneumonia ahead of me but I’m on the right track.

Thanks for all the well wishes

Excellent! Well done, Ryan. May your full recovery be sunny, fast and smooth.

Afternoon all!

Just a quick update on Jon (Mr Harry). He is getting better and the fever has gone. Starting to be able to eat regularly and because he’s coughing less, he can finally sleep. His GP practice called him today and prescribed a codeine linctus to help the cough. The doc spoke to him at length. Took on board his low oxygen saturation readings 90 to 93 and, having gone through all his medical notes, decided that he doesn’t have an underlying infection (I was worried about pneumonia). Jon’s a bit of a weird one with the oxygen levels, apparently. Hopefully, he is recovering now. He’s lurking at the edge of the woods and will be out of them soon!

If anyone views this thread looking for help with Covid, check the 111 online service first and then call 111 if the online form tells you to do so. It does not take long to speak to someone, don’t be put off. If you are struggling to breathe, call 999.

Thanks again Ryan and I hope you haven’t crept into the garage yet! Helen x

That's great news, Helen. I'm very pleased that Jon isn't likely to be lurking at the edge of the woods very much longer. In my experience, especially when the boy scouts are out camping, it offends people and can result in unfortunate notes on one's police file. It's to be avoided.

Great news Helen. Sounds like Jon is slowly on the mend.

Keep monitoring the saturation levels and see how he starts to gain more energy and those are the key indicators.

Im building strength every day now the covid is gone.

Keep us posted on progress

Recovery going well thanks Wattie and have to say I almost feel back to normal.

Thankfully I seem to be recovering well as far the pneumonia goes, don’t feel compromised at all.
Read some medical expert in the papers yesterday saying 2-8 week recovery from the effects of fluid on the lungs and looks like I may have been lucky and been at the better end of that.

GT back to full health, well she started up last week when I changed the battery lol.

Missed my service on the 14th at JCT so wondering when A) I get to drive it again as I’m itching just to go on a long run just for the sake of it and B) when I’ll actually be able to get the service done

Great re the battery!
Jon’s feeling zippididoodah today - I didn’t post on here after the 8th because Jon got worse and I had to call an ambulance on Good Friday, the 10th. He’s had great care at the William Harvey hospital and today is now completely off the oxygen. He’s also taking part in a clinical trial - the drugs randomly chosen for him are HIV anti-virals. The pills are massive, apparently! I expect he will be out fairly soon.

Great news , the more recovery's we hear the more confidence it will give others , pinkies crossed the course of meds work , if he has trouble swalling the pills there are otherr ways they can be inserted , but i guess the thought of that will make him gulp that bit harder lol

Yes, he’s been saying that to the nurses as a joke and hoping they won’t take him “up” on it

Sorry to hear he had to go in, Helen, but what wonderful news that he's on the mend and perky enough to be suggesting to nurses that they can still their pills up his ar5e. Good man!
