Yes was just talking about this on the ALfa Giulia thread. As a limited edition it will probably be priced well over the M cars and Alfa ..... But what a car this will be. The basic XE is a well sorted sports saloon that has been crying out for the V8..........Jaguar are just doing everything right at the moment. They have shrugged off that old man image with proper sports and high performance machines and these project cars will just help improve that further.

Nice to see not all manufacturers are focused on abandoning V8s for smaller supercharged and turbo charged engines

Would seem so, shame really but what a halo car for the saloon range. clever marketing as all lesser variants will have the body pack as an option for the wannabees

The Ghibli would take the V8 from the QP. It could be limited numbers but create interest and say that they haven't forgotten their heritage.

They won't though. It's too imaginative.

I see there is also a new BMW 8 series coming too.

I've listened to every comment on the positioning relative to Alfa, Ferrari and the others. I've read all about the need from FCA for the brand to sell more cars and why they need a 4x4 and the normal stuff.

Nowhere have a read decent reason for there being no halo model. No good reason why the Alfieri has not made it to production.

It's just utter BS and even though my blood under a microscope contains trident shaped red and white cells, I am very close to abandoning the marque.

Their service is shite. They couldn't give a rats *** about their customers. They're making nothing of interest. They don't even race the Trofeo cars against anything interesting or even bring them to compete at Le Mans.

They have a lovely 3.8 at their disposal but it's in the wrong model. And even in the QP they haven't made it look any different. Imagine Mercedes used the S class only for the full AMG treatment and then made it still look like an S320 CDI. It's ridiculous. They should be stuffing that engine into everything, working to get their 4WD system working in right hand drive cars and making us all have somewhere to aspire to.

I love my Stradale but one day I will want to change and I will be forced to look elsewhere. That's nothing short of stupid, no matter how much marketing spin you put on it.

They need to fix this situation and fix it quickly or they'll lose years of good will and dilute the brand into nothing.

Rant over.

For now !! :)

Face facts guys, Maserati is not a GT car producer any more, it is a bunch of accountants shuffling figures to achieve a percentage on behalf of fiat with middle of the road "Euro boxes". The ghibli is a good car but no matter what engine they put in it, it will never in million years be a halo. The alfieri was their shot at a halo, but as per recent par, they missed that boat by a mile. Some on here will call foul on what I say and that I do not support the marque but the facts speak for themselves.....and yes, like outrun, I have trident running through my veins, even years before I owned one I loved them.

To be fair Maserati have for some time made attempts to compete with German marques and up volume. Wasn't the Biturbo aimed at competing with Beemer 3 series? Plenty of Ghibli's on the road but most buyers will always go for the 5 series because of its build quality. By aiming for volume in the future Maserati risks losing its soul and will flounder because they wont have the quality to complete with the Germans or enough flair to appeal to buyers wanting something different. I fear the Fiat group only sees Ferrari as special.

That said, the Granturismo is fabulous and sold well. Will it ever be replaced?

Totally agree with you. The only good things about maserati at the moment are
1) this forum
2) the Stradale
3) the noise of an Mc shift!

D4mn. There's a bit too much to agree with on this thread.

Good thing the cars Maserati have been turning out over the last years and which we drive have been the dog's bollox.

And maybe Jaguar now has that one covered......Think it was Pistonheads the other week put the M4, AMG and Alfa through a group test but couldn't conclude as the Alfa broke down....Some things never change ..... Hahaha
