Cobra Navtrack

Just renewed the insurance on my GT-S, and because the car is just under £75k in value, Aviva no longer insist on it having a tracker. As Cobra Navtrack want 300 plus quid per year, I have delayed my renewal while I look at alternatives.

Two questions:

Can I insist Cobra release the codes so I can have a.n.other tracking company track the car. (in much the same way as mobile phone companies now have to give you the PUK code so you can take your number to another supplier.

Is there an economical alternative even if it means fitting a new tracker? I found this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tracker-Vehicle-Theft-Protection-System/dp/B003XDN58K

Strikes me that if I can't get Cobra to release the codes, then that is anti-compitative practice.

Hi Yeti,
Can't you get the codes from Navtrack themselves, or are Cobra the same outfit..??
I would think if you are out of contract, then they have a duty to release the codes to you as the owner of the vehicle. Cobra only look as though they are a Navtrack Dealer, nothing else.
How about Maserati, they might just have the Navtrack Codes for the car on record at the selling dealer.
Cheers

The standard service - where you don't need the Navtrack card - is cheaper. Does your insurance company insist you take the full service?

Cobra said the couldn;t possibly release the codes. I have yet to push them as I think they have no choice. As for the insurance company, as the agreed value is now under £75k, they don't insist on a tracker of any description, so I may just fit a £35 job from amazon that you phone into to track it.

That said, I took the car into Graypaul this morning for her 12.5k service so maybe I'll ask them to look into it.
