Choices

Ok so been hard at work looking for the right Maserati and my choices seems to be..
4200 Buy one in the wrong external colour and get it resprayed.
Go back to looking for a QP But in the right colours.
Spend a little more sell my 159 and try to get the right colour's in a QP..
Colours I want are simple BLACK paint job, Ox blood leather interior.
I think if I go for the QP I'd be selling up the Alfa and just running the Maserati.
If I could find a 4200 facelift with slight paint damage/body damage no marker on the insurance data base, I could keep the Alfa and respray the 4200 to the righ colour. Assuming it had Ox blood leather..

What are your thoughts guys?
I would preferably want to keep the Alfa she's a great car, not slow my any means and a good work horse at the same time, but if I go the QP route it makes sence both money wise and practabilty wise to get shot of the Alfa, as they are a little more than I wanted to spend anyhow.

Changing the colour of a coupe should really nessessatate engine out , as the inner wings and bulkhead are also painted in the original colour of the car , therefore makes for an expensive colour change if doing properly , my take is go for the QP and go for what you want

Living in London I only have one parking space - and I'm lucky to have that - which means I can really only run one car.

If I had the space to keep more I most certainly would. Perhaps it's a good thing I can only keep one :) otherwise I'd never have sold a car.

I suppose it comes down to how much you love the 159 tempered by how much you want a change. I really enjoyed my 166 and looked at objectively I was mad to sell it (low miles, cared for, FSH, utterly reliable) but I'd owned it for seven years and wanted a change.

Only you know if you 'want' a change.

A QP in black with OX blood leather could take a life time to find..Think I have only ever seen one ......

Personally I wouldn't buy a car that only had a partial respray, I'm with loz, you have to do it properly...

Can Maserati GB tell you if one was made for the UK?

If not, then at least you can make a more informed choice.

I'm sure I've seen some around and could double check with Maserati uk to know for deffo, if I was going to do the respray route I'd have a FULL respray strip the car myself then take in the shell to be done. That way the whole car would be sprayed. It's a cheaper option than getting the full internal leather andnswappingitput although I would still make some money back by selling the oldmlether if it was in good condition,

As much as I do love my Alfa I think I would swap her in for a QP any day. the 4200 though I'd be struggling to let go.

QP is a stunning car and the only one you would need...I've driven and standard car a a QP GT and they just shrink around you.....A great car.

I stripped my Stag to a bare shell when I restored it, but stripping a modern car with a million miles of wiring loom to get resprayed...never!
You would never do it, so many parts, just to change the colour?

A QP May be on the books, I've know of one that is ticking 99% of the right boxes.
But what to do about the 159....I can't have the QP and the 159 so have any of you been looking at the 159s are they selling at the moment?
Mines a 08 2.4 TI high ish mileage but FSH and it's just had another full but intrum service cambelt done, good tyres all round. + full size tyre and wheel Spare and a space saver, new full s/s exhaust and passed a mot with no advisorys a couple months ago. Over all clean and good condition with the expecption of a couple stone chips and one ruddy big stone chip on the bonnet that one I'd get sorted before sale.
Leather is all In Good condition and everything works. There is no rust even under the bonnet on the slam panel spot welds (a known surface rust area on the 159 and something to keep in mind if looking for a 159) there are aprox 74 2.4 TI'S currently in the country on our roads. So defo not a common car she's had a ecu remap that does wonders for the mpg and all out gogo the std mpg on the 2.4 is around 34 but you'll easily get 45+ out of a remapped one. There are a couple out for sale ATM but I've only just started looking so don't know how long they have been on the market and if they are selling, I would price mine at around 10.5k it's not the most expensive nor is it the cheapest but I'd say and yes I would say it lol but she has to be one of the best condition ones.
Bit that have been done on her are 5new injectors, cam-belt, ott servicing, no egr or dpf removed when the remap was done (a common problem on all euro5 jtdm engines) springs and shocks all done, undersealed last year, only high quality oil has ever been used in her,

So should i I sell her ????
