Jesus, you are not having much luck are you.

Great that it’s up and driving, but the issues with the gear change (4th to 1st) you describe is obviously not normal so something is not right.

As for your wheel bearing, my old MC had been faultless, parked it up, then next time I went to start it, dashboard light Christmas tree and a wheel bearing fail.
Yeah - the “funny” gear change confirmed that my decision to have Emblem install a new clutch/flywheel/CPS/pilot and spigot bearings/Clutch release bearing next week is a good one…

As for wheel bearing - car is on 35k miles and Graypaul Birmingham had already changed front left at 19k :firing:

Just an update on this, and hopefully the conclusion of this particular gearbox fault for me.

I have replaced the right rear Wheel bearing/ABS sensor - Cannot see anything obviously wrong with it, cable looked fine, (although I did pull it a little getting it out) just a small amount of dirt/debris around the sensor ring, which I suppose might confuse it a little, but it certainly isn't full of rust like my front right one was when I replaced it. As it wasn't actually showing an ABS fault, I think I'll give it a good clean up and keep it as an emergency spare. I'd be willing to try it out on the front, as that's not to bad to change if it did end up faulty.

I was lucky with the drive shaft, a normal puller and a long braker bar and a bit of patience was enough to get it out.

As Matt kindly said above, the P-clip is a nightmare, and I think was half the labour time to remove and fit that alone!

Just got back from a test drive of around 50 miles and all is well!
I won't fully celebrate until I've done a few more miles, but the gearbox fault was instant wilt the old sensor, so it is looking very promising.

Thanks again to Matt @conaero and @mischaRS for highlighting their experiences with this confusing fault.

Great to hear that your issue was resolved! Did you use a genuine bearing?

In a further twist to my own saga - I forgot to mention that I installed a brand new clock spring and stalks in an attempt to solve the lack of cruise control and flash to pass not functioning without dipped beams being on. The good news is that the new stalk resolved the cruise control issue, but the bad news is that flash to pass still isn't working and Myles thinks it could well be a stuck relay on the NCB.

I wonder if anyone has ever taken apart a NCB (Central Body Computer) and has a clue on what this relay looks like?

Anyway, I forgot to recalibrate the steering angle sensor when I installed the new clock spring and stalks, so there is a decent chance that it's not a wheel bearing problem, but just that. It would certainly be cheaper....

Will keep updating...

I have a spare wheel bearing too, with a suspect ABS sensor. Suggest we all bring them to the next meet. Next member with an issue can select one , like russian roulette :)

Quick update from my side - Emblem have run the car around the parking lot and up and down the road. Clutch is at the end of its life so it will be changed as per the original booking. The ABS/ESR etc fault codes were caused by yours truly who genuinely forgot to re-calibrate the steering angle sensor when a new stalk/clock spring was swapped. A quick sequence of screens and on-screen buttons pressed by Myles on the Maserati Diagnosi and Grace Jones was back to having no warning signs on the dash...

Now, how to repair a Body Control Module... I will post my findings in a separate post...
