I think you'll find its a team blaming event Conaero..............poor/contaminated metal to start with, no rust protection.......................................water traps (all courtesy of Alfa Romeo), once they go north of Lyon, far more humidity/rain ( nature)........the thing needed a lot of mechnaical work, left out side ( human owners...)....et voila.......terminal tinworm!

More likely the former.......you find in older men....cartiliginous parts do "grow" as you get older...................sorry.....;)
