Cheap MC Shift ?

A pal of mine picked up his CLS AMG from his dealer the other day and was told they had taken in a 09 GTS as a px..

It had not been advertised as of last week...

he took a few phone snaps.. and it appears to be a GTS MC shift.. he says it had 21,000 miles and was a 2 owner car .. (the first being Maserati GB)..

They offered it to him at £39,950... which seems to me well undercooked if he's right about the other details...

He seemed to be under the impression that he could do a deal on it at about £37k if he wanted it ... (which he doesn't being a Merc man)

It's not unusual for non specialist dealers to just shift these on when they are unfamiliar with what they've got.. (I've bought my last 2 that way)

So could well be a good deal for someone.... I've not seen the car btw but from the snaps it looks to be Black / Black with silver Neptunes...and red callipers ... chrome highlights and in pretty good order..

Anyone keen ?.. and i'll pass on the dealers info ..

That seems far too low by any standards. Even with a very basic spec or a weird colour that seems too low.

Looks like mine's a keeper! Which I'm happy with. :smile:

Gents..

theres no guarantee that this is all gospel... but Im pretty confident that it is... I emailed Dicky .. thinking he might want to take some wages out of it ... but he's committed right now..

So ... an opportunity for one of the brethren to do a deal before the dealer figures out what they've got..

I suspect this has arisen due to the appalling blue book values for these cars.....

If it's all as it should be... or even if it needs a clutch it's got to be a deal for someone here...

Duuno ... thats what I thought too... from the pics I have I'm certain it's an MC shift... though dealer was unable to tell my chum whether it was a 4.2 or a 4.7...

I gather it's been traded in for a new Merc... maybe a new AMG GTS or something similar...

In which case the deal; on that may well have been done some 12 months or more ago... with a guaranteed trade value on the Maserati..

I suspect the only loser here is the guy that bought the Merc..

I did a similar deal on My 4.2 when I bought it off a Porsche dealer..for the same reasons... would have been many £,000's more on a specialist Maserati forecourt..

Other Prestige dealers have little confidence in anything outside of their own brand... and at that age even Maserati main dealers don't want them..unless they are shifting a new one ...

I've had a couple of PM's on this... and passed on the info..

Feeding frenzy won't help anyone... and either, one of them will flush out an inaccuracy or explanation.... or they'll be doing a deal...

So i'll give them some breathing space, hope that in the meantime it doesn't pollute values by appearing in the Trader or Piston Heads... and look forward to a free beer at the next meet if either of them do a deal..

If not I expect that one or other will publish the full facts when they've seen it ...

But it's with a reputable Mercedes Main Dealer... so I'd do a deal on the back of a video walk round provided that they gave it a full prep (I know it needs a wheel refurb at the very least)... and all the paperwork/history/keys etc were as it should be..

We'll see..

Nah. It is going to be rubbish. 4.2 next big service is up, no service history etc. Well I hope anyway ......

Alas, this car has gone within the trade to a specialist dealer. No doubt it'll be advertised soon at a healthy premium over what it was available for last week. I spent a bit of time chasing it down, but was unfortunately too late.

I seriously don't know why anyone is shocked at the price. Pretty much bang on trade-in money I'd suggest at 37-39. If I'd seen it quicker I would have snapped it and done the same as I did with my last one.
