If i may add (and pls step in to correct) the material inside the OEM cats on a Masa is ceramic which in more prone to break up if it receives a decent wack. Once damaged, irrepairable

Totally true Adam and spot on , the ceramic is coated with the precious metals that Matt speaks of , i had the secondary cats removed and replaced with the larini sports cat section and then full stainless right through to the rear valved boxes , even my link pipes are stainless , plenty of over run , sorta puts rice crispies to shame with all the cracking and popping, great fun , and Larini are still probably half what maserati would charge................................... just for general info , Larini are in the process of developing the main header ( manifold ) in full stainless
