Cambiocorsa warning light won’t go off...

All,

Have just been to stick my car in the garage and it won’t start because the Cambiocorsa warning light doesn’t go off.

Could this be an electrical gremlin? I reattached my Ctek leads yesterday afternoon, so there was a brief spell when the battery was disconnected....

If not, any other ideas what might have caused this?

It’s currently passing down with rain so I haven’t experimented with the usual disconnect the battery and reset...

Try the battery reset when you invest in an umbrella ( ;-)) .
That's the first point of call.
Have you had any gearbox issues?

Thanks!

Have dashed out and turned the battery off, and will turn it back on at the end of the Liverpool - Everton match.

Have not had any gearbox issues, so am hoping just an electrical gremlin. Interestingly, when the door unlocks I’m not hearing the whine of the F1 pump either...

That's a worry.

Hopefully Everton will beat Liverpool (I'm a Mancunian) and all will be better. You might want to charge your battery.

If you don't hear the F1 pump whine then chances are either the pump motor has given up of the relay is faulty.

I'd swap the relay out first but also try tapping the F1 pump as when my F1 pump failed it would run briefly if given a tap.

There is a good guide on here which I followed a few years ago and it has been fine since.

Try and rock the car back and forth... it my be that it is just stuck and not letting it drop into N.

Or stamp on the brake peddle to see if the stop light switch is working...its linked to the F1 system.

What a pain, if you remove the relay you could bridge the power terminals (the digram in the relay will show which is which) and see if the pump runs. If it does this will probably give you enough pressure to get it into the garage while you wait for a new relay. If it doesn't its a pump replacement unfortunately.

Battery fully charged over night, and no change this morning... will need to order a new relay and keep my fingers crossed!

Have you tried giving it a shove backwards and forwards?

Yep - isn’t interested in moving more than an inch or two... the car says it is in neutral but am not convinced... I’ve also tried the stomping on the brake, and there’s no joy there either.

I’m hoping it’s just a relay, but time will tell... the car is under warranty so one way or another it will get sorted.

Have you tried another relay from the car that may fit? At leat it would tell you if it was pump or relay.

No - good idea though... I have been swapping messages with Richard and am planning to have one more go (either tonight or tomorrow) at taking out the relay(s) in the boot, re-inserting them, and then doing a battery reset to see if something has just got dislodged or has tripped and not reset...

One of the challenges is that it’s rather hard to get to where the F1 pump relay is.

Although not of immediate help - some on ML have moved the fuse/relay post to be more accessible.

:dance4::dance4::dance4:

The dancing baby above is how I feel right now, as, thanks to Richard Grace and Marios, my car is fixed, working perfectly, and I have learnt something really useful to watch out for.... it’s also another fab example of why this forum is so f.ucking useful

The reason my car wasn’t starting was because when I was repositioning my Ctek leads to my battery I had inadvertently dislodged the lead that goes into the plug on the ECU, and all that was needed was to push the plug back down.

Richard contacted me by text first thing this morning, asked me a couple of questions and then called me later in the day once he had spoken to Marios and told me that Marios had instantly recognised what I’d probably done, and told me what I needed to do to fix it.

Big thanks also to Navcorr for the three photos, which meant I knew exactly what I was looking for when I got home, and it was fixed in 5 mins flat... the sound of the pump whining when I turned the isolator switch back on was fantastic!

Sorry this message is all gushy, but I’m delighted that it was my own stupid mistake in the first place, and massive credit and thanks to Richard and Marios for taking the time to follow up...

Awesome news! I know how you feel, when I got mine and had trouble with the clutch Marios said “it’ll be the bush in the pedal”, I said “I’ve checked that it’s ok”. 3 days of trying to work out what it was and it turned out it was the bush and I’d looked at the wrong bit.
