Hi guys,

I am a newbie.
Got my first Maserati GT last week; an absolute beauty and I love it.
Can I ask this forum advise on cam recorder for the car. I treat this car with absolute care and I feel cam recorder could save some distress in case of rogue damages.

Thanks Guys.

Another Frank with a black GTS... That's not going to get confusing!!!

A very big welcome to the forum, I have thought about pitting in semi permanent cameras to record things but not gone anywhere with it but I guess the starting point is a Go-Pro or similar or something dedicated with multiple feeds so it watches all corners of the car simultaneously and records it to a black box in the boot automatically. The market for these seems to be Eastern Europe and Russia where people will throw themselves under a car that looks like it is insured because they have so little to loose it is worth the risk.

Thanks for the input. Blackvue has more adequate cam recorders for cars. The twin DR650GW HD looks quite impressive. I think I will go for this one. Some more money to spend :)
I will need to get it fitted properly.
Another question for you, Maserati savvy. Do you usually get this type of accessories fitted in an official Maserati garage or it's good enough to use a professional installer.

Thanks,
Franck

I have heard of a few people fitting these lately. One chap had someone carve him up and clip the front and tried to claim it was his fault. He pointed to the camera mounted by the rear view mirror and he soon backed down. Starting to sound like a good idea!

Hi Franck... How did you get on with the camera ?...I've been thinking about fitting one for a while but not keen on any "clutter" in the cabin..Be interested to see how yours turns out ..

Hi Fangio,
Sorry for the late reply. I have not done it yet. It has been hectic for me lately. I will hopefully find the time to call Maranello Egham for a fitting quote tomorrow.
I will update you.

Cool... I've been looking at the Dragonfly system ... which looks like nice discreet little cameras... I'm just bothered about Wiring issues.... let me know how you get on..

My car virtually identical to yours.. but with a tan interior... and maranello closest dealer to me... so maybe once they've done a tiral run on yours ... ......

Hi Fangio,
Some news. Maranello does not fit those, but they refer me to this guy who seems to be doing some electric jobs for them: Carlo at

http://www.c-gcaraudio.co.uk/

He has recommended me the smarview system that is much more discrete then blackvue one. I booked him for a fitting this Friday.
It's not cheap. Smartview SVC 400GPS + 32GB memory card + 2 cameras SVA021-S (front and back) + fitting : £664 + vat
He said it's a clean job; no drilling, no wire visible.
Happy to be your guinea pig. Will feed back you by Friday.

Cheers, Franck

All perfect. The guy did a great job. All clean and very discreet. You don't see the cameras at all from outside. Image quality is alright. not HD and can't see the number plates, which a bit of a disappointment. Software is windows only (quite annoying). But overall good enough for what I need + I like the fact you don't see the cameras.
I will post pictures an other time.

Cheers,
Franck
