M3 engine in a E30 is a huge amount of time, fabrication and money in comparison to the M52 2.8 engine - very little difference low down, all of the M3 advantages are much higher up the rev range which is only usable in 'race' conditions

Have a look here to see the M52 sitting in my E30 convertible. It's much closer to being finished now, I've even driven it under it's own steam!

It is for racing. We enjoy a challenge, got normal engine changes down to under two hours now. Takes about 8 of us and a lot of beer and sandwiches though!

Nice motor! Looks like a cracking fit. My E30s are best described as "well worn"

Sorry Andrew...are you talking about AMG Mercs..?.........;-)....I know, I know...I can not help myself Adam...

You know you mention that the last proper M car was the CSL....Which we have always agreed on well not I think that has moved on...Drove the 1 Series M yesterday...Oh my God.....Best M car for years, the right size, more than enough power, handles like a dream.........YOu really do not need to spend the 15k more on an M3 as the 1 does it all.........Unless you don't like the look that is....
