Hi all,

So whats been happening?. Well a while back we all tried to get onto Bruntingthorpe but due to a change in their policy in owners going on we couldnt make it happen.

So what better way could there be to have fun and raise a few quid in the meantime. There are approx 10 cars signed up but are now looking for a few more interesting cars so I suggested I should drop you all a line to see who might be interested.

See the note below form the organiser. e mail me if you have any other questions.

Thanks

Dear All,

It's time to ask you to confirm your support for this great event

What: 'On Your Marks' Charity Rides sponsored by Asda
Where: Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire
When: 15th August 2010
Why: In aid of Childrens charities, last Year was Sparks, Clic Sargeant and Wish for Kids

On Your Marks started nine years ago, at Asda we had a driver called Mark Hickingbottom, who was dying of lymphatic cancer after serving his country in the first gulf war, we approached the owner of Bruntingthorpe (David Walton) and asked if we could have a day with some trucks and a few cars on the proving ground , and he said yes. This went very well and we made £7,500 for his family but unfortunately mark died a week before the event.

The car clubs that came on the day asked if we could carry on with the event ,so we approached his family and asked if we could do the day in his memory and use his name, they said they didn't mind but could the money go to children's cancer charities, the car clubs agreed to the same.

Nine years down the line we have raised over £150,000+ for local kids , and we now get 15,000 colleagues, friends and family there on the day, we insist that the charities are there on the day and that some of the sick children are there as well, then at 1400 on the day we open a special Pitts for them and call all the special cars in for them to get in and go around the track for free and there parents and siblings. this is very special and is the pay back for all the hard work.

Remember you can book cheap hotel accommodation as below
Barceló Hinckley island hotel (on your marks family weekend deal)

Saturday 14th august 2010 twin bedded room with breakfast £ 55 per room
Sunday 15th aug 2010 twin bedded room with breakfast £ 55 per room
you must quote ref number o.y.m. 55

Barceló Hinckley island hotel has all the usual amenities that you would expect from a top of the range hotel , swimming pool, sauna, steam room, training room, there is a harvester and a pub within two minutes walk ,just on the other side of the M 69 island that are both very good and cheap.

All this is a great event that I am also involved in...There's a suprise....It's a free day by invitation only which is why you can give passenger rides without the H&S do gooders spoiling the fun...It is very safe though. There is loads going on and you can have passenger rides in some great cars plus drive buses, artic lorries aound the track. There are lots of attractions for the family, air displays, rally stage rides, a fairground for the little ones and the ASDA Lorry driver of the year competition.....Last year the amount of cars there was fantastic..Ferrari, Lambo, Vipers, Lotus, Nissan GTR, TVR....But no Maserati. So if you fancy doing your bit for charity and driving around Brunty at speed then please come along...

If anyone wants to just come along for the day without going on track let me know as I have entry passes...It's all for charity.

Yeah i did 8 laps at Bruntingthorpe last year in an Audi R8 with my youngest at the wheel , love the track and the lad, well, he's a chip off the old block at the wheel and will most certainly follow in his pops foot steps when he old enough to get cheaper insurance, meanwhile he has to make do with his Polo and the odd trackday
