Try autoaid
AutoAid don't tell you that recovery is not with one recovery firm. A local firm will recover you to their boundary. From there, another firm will recover you their boundary and so on, until your car reaches a specialist.

I wanted the Porsche with a split coolant hose recovered from Staffordshire to my nominated specialist in Lancashire.

They sent a local firm that reached me after a little more than 2 hours. That firm was going to recover the vehicle on a flat bed as far as Knutsford Services on the M6.

Once at Knutsford, they will contact local firms to switch to their flat bed and take it to Bolton. But they could not give estimated time of delivery to the specialist.

The specialist closed at 6pm. At 4:30pm the first recovery firm reached me after the loss of coolant at 2:15pm.

I 'persuaded ' AutoAid to recover the car to my home and the next day recover it to a different local specialist within 8 miles from home in Cheshire without crossing county border.

AutoAid only give one recovery within their fee. A 2nd recovery is chargeable. I argued we had no choice as the specialist was closed shortly after the first recovery firm arrived. The call handler had to hang up and discuss my demand with a superior.

So you get what you pay for. The Porsche is now insured with Locktons whose premium includes FULL breakdown, recovery and home assistance across the UK AND the whole of the EU.

Just letting you know that AutoAid is cheap for a reason. That split hose was the first only breakdown in the Porsche which is otherwise maintained at a main dealer with all advisories always authorised.

The Gransport will also move out of tge current specialist and be insured with Locktons. You really do get what you pay for.

I've never used RAC or AA. I have used Green Flag but without making any claims because my cars are all maintained on time, to the highest standard with main dealers and specialists.

I waited 3 hours for green flag , turned out they company they used found a better job but didn't bother telling green flag they weren't coming

I've also been stuck on the M6 for 2 hours waiting for the AA

When they're busy there's plenty of tales of woe

Sometimes it pays to be a lone female (could be even better female with kids;))
