Boot release stopped working?

Hi all,

Any of you come across the boot release handle not working on a GT. Works on the dash button and the boot button on the key but no response to pressing the handle itself. Drove to my sisters on Christmas Day and it was working when we left home but stopped working by the time we arrived 160 miles later.

Any help appreciated before I take a trip to the stealers in January for a service.

Thanks!

Yep, mine does exactly the same. I even stripped out the boot micro switch in the summer ( an easy job) and freed it off ( they can get gunky, despite the rubber seal) but it still works when it feels like it.
It's Italian.

Thanks Andy. All fixed and took 5 mins. Noticed that the rubber pad had been pushed too hard, causing it to fold into the recess. This caused the plastic lever behind it to become misaligned and therefore not hit the micro switch which is operating fine. Two screws to remove, put it all back together and all is well. Many thanks:)

The power of forums. Wonder how much the stealers would have charged me to investigate and fix that?

believe it or not, I was going to chime in – and give a shoutout to Stevens Creek Maserati who diagnosed that same exact problem for me, and did so just chatting with me without the car even there.

Unbelievable, I just thought that you had to open it from the dash or the key, meaning my switch has never worked from the boot since I got the car! I'll have to get someone more handy than me to take a look at it, thanks for the heads up!

That made me smile. 2 members discovering a new button.

I assume everyone knows that there are buttons behind the steering wheel to control Nav zoom, select menus on the screen etc? I was driving it for a few months before I discovered them!

Mine opens on the dash button and the handle but not from the key! Don't you just love 'em.
