I prefer the Shamal. When I walked into the garage and had the choice of taking out the Shamal or my Ghibli Cup, the Shamal won every time. Both had very similar bhp and performance, but the Shamal had a far nicer driving position for someone of my height/physique, which in turn meant a better driving experience.
But now, a Cup is approximately half the price of a Shamal, so some might think it a bargain in comparison.

IMO the Cup and Shamal aren’t really comparable on a like for like. Cup’s all aggro, top end, Dawn blast by yourself kinda car. The Shamal is actually a very refined GT, albeit with eye bursting mid-range. Just a pity it doesn’t have the same cornering and steering feel as a a Cup, but that would make it too nervous on the high speed autoroute blasts it was designed for.
Of course, somewhere between the two would be marvellous.

I remember thrashing my Cup around Goodwood in the wet. That was hairy, given for me, the steering feel was tainted by the steering wheel itself (in terms of position and angle). Oh, and those ridiculous seats the Cup has, with zero support, that are totally inappropriate when trying to crack on. Anyway, while the 3200 in front of me hit the tyre wall, I lived to tell the tale. Happy days!

I am definitely of the opinion the original O.Z 16 inch wheels are too small to match the aggressive design of the Shamal. Had they been 17” and just a tiny fraction wider they would have been much better. So mine is on the 17” O.Z Futura’s but with a more sensible width of rubber than in the OP. The original wheels remain with the car but are kept in the garage.
