A very bad man (Newton) met me today and told me a couple of you fine folk are running Ferrari gearbox software (Scuderia?) on your GranSports that enables blips on downshifts...please do tell.

This might be the difference between me keeping the car and selling it! :rofl5:

??? Standard GS blips on down shifts which is more noticeable in Spprts mode.

In addition the original first gen CC software had the same but was lost if it was flashed on a update.

My 2007 4200 blips on down shifts very noticeably which is nice. No idea what CC software it is on though.

A 2006 Gransport has already got the blip on downshift the same as the 4200 facelift cars have got it. Its quite subtle if you dont know its there. Have the car in sport mode with the window down and the car in sport mode. Have the car doing above 3000 rpm and then down shift without touching the brakes. You should hear it clearly then.

Its less noticeable below 3000 rpm and if you want it more distinctive then fit either a H pipe or an X pipe. The blip will become much clearer and you will also gain some cracks and pops on downshift.

He has been telling some truth but it's only for the elite few on here and invitation only. Think of it like fight club , you never talk about it and now he has he will be evicted.

I'm not a fan of the downshift blip or crashing over road irregularities when in town so generally leave it in non-sport mode then. However, on holiday on great twisty roads in Spain in sport mode with a standard exhaust the blip was obvious with the windows shut, (as they usually were because 35C ambient temperature plus the engine's heat made that more comfortable despite the fairly weedy aircon) - it was like a dog barking at the corners.

I was just suggesting he has the window down until he detects it happening. To be fair you can just look at the rev counter and see it blip. I was just thinking if his aircon is on full tilt and the stereo on it may be masking the blip.

The only way the blip would not be there on a 2006 GS is if the tcu had failed on the car and been replaced with a 2003 ish tcu unit or it had been flashed to older software for some reason.

The other way of telling if you have the correct software is if you have the automatic hill hold. 2004 onwards 4200s and the GS's had this function along with the downshift blip.

Drew has posted the software version by zam number/year on a few threads on the subject.

I get so confused about gearbox software versions, downshift blip, hill hold, more aggressive change etc, etc.

I just like what mine has so I think I will just leave well alone - oh and it does blip on downshifts

It's not the down shift blip I'm enamored with as much as the upshift blip.......I'm enamored with that for different reasons though, mainly to get rid of it entirely.

Figured I would also toss a bone out there.

Upshift blip....not sure how that can work when you change gear near or at the red line?! You have nothing left for any blip to take place!!
