Not sure if it's the gangsta effect bud a lot of young drivers want black. My current hack (focus) is black and I've just made a choice of changing it (another hack). If you look at the current focus colours, not many bright ones available. There are 3 shades of metallic grey (which I find boring), metallic black (never again due to upkeep) a dull burnt orange and dark blue (same upkeep as black). Ford have now put on a £200 premium on a white car and the only "free" colour is bright red. They make a nice candy red and have dropped the candy yellow. So if you want dull colours you can have them for £500, the nice red for £800 or white for £200. When I looked at Gulietta's last year teh only free colour was black if I remember correctly. Even solid red was an optional colour.

Bring back some of the 60's & 70's bright shades.

Oh I went for white as the best cost effective option, but as Dem says that may already be going the way of silver... When the car doesn't cost much as the paint is going to cost as closer to te leather option the paint becomes secondary in some respects. Agree with ear;ier comments of dealers bringing in stock that may be attractive to a wider audience.

I remember my last company car E46 BMW, the other guys int he office went for black, (spot your car int he office car park) so I went for bright red (tart red as one of the secretaries called it)
Still we may have to wait for the next season to kick in for a change in the colour palletes available to manufacturers.
