Battery removal

Chaps!

My GT had a totally unexpected power failure this morning and, having found the battery, am slightly bemused by the fact that the positive terminal is cloaked with a circuit board. Any advice as how safely to remove it so that I can change the battery would be greatly appreciated. Manual sheds no light, and haven't found any online instructions as yet. Why has it all become so complicated ?!

Are you sure it's a circuit board ? There's a plastic cover over the right hand terminal. It just unclips. Oddly, the clips are placed exactly where your fingers go to remove it. Squeeze 'n' lift. Simple.

Well, should be.

You will also need to remove the other self tapper on the orange bit as they screw into the top of the battery. It should lift straight off then.

Thanks guys - have successfully changed the battery. As Breakeronly and Trevor said, the answer is to unscrew the orange parts, loosen the positive terminal, and lift the whole unit off the battery.

The orange brackets actually fit into the top of the battery with rawlplug-type attachments so be sure to pull them out first, otherwise the unit won't move at all; also, there's a breather tube connected on the left hand side that needs to be disconnected.

Thanks again for your help. Now going to give her a good clean - with 2 buckets of course!
