Hi everyone,

I want to buy a new battery for my 2004 4200. The old battery is giving up. Which one would you recommend for me? In 2018 when I purchased the car, the Maserati dealership in frankfurt put this one in (Ferrari 12V-74AH-400A).
Does the car need any programming after changing the battery?

Thanks

I fitted this about a year ago:

Bosch S5A11 80A / h-800A

I had an S3 before, which was OK but the S5 has been much better. Starts instantly (ie 1 second rather than 3) and holds charge well between drives (I drive once or twice a week, usually short journeys).

Everyone has a favourite so I’m sure you’ll get lots of good suggestions, but I think the 800A rating was worth paying a bit extra for.

I've just bought this as a replacement for the Yuasa Battery in my 2004 4200, looks to be a good price.

Recent experience with yuasa batteries is if they go flat once they are toast. 3 batteries in 2 years across 3 different cars. Also seems to be if its a 3 or 5 year warranty on them they will start to fail quickly just before on around that point. Pretty sure @conaero has seen similar issues with yuasa batteries.

Tanya batteries online were the cheapest when i checked last. Quick delivery as well.

Bosch S5 silver has been reliable for me. I had the blue in a previous car and that was also reliable

I've found the same with those grey Yuasa ones too. They go flat then are toast. Got two dead ones in the Pug GTi's and need to sort out warranty replacements if they will honour them.

Won't buy them again now and will try Bosch silver or something else. Got them as they had a longer warranty but I'd rather a better battery that didn't need the warranty.
