Back in the saddle

Recession over - and mid life reached I'm back in a Maserati again... This time a 2008 GT 4.2 in Nero over Cuoio Sella with less than 20k on the clock....

Loving it to bits... niggle with the 'phone (see post on the GT forum)... For the money these are right now I can't think of a better car... I know the 4.7 is better and faster ... but in real day to day use am I ever going to notice ?... I took the view not..

I'm retaining my Alfa 147 jtd as a runaround..( had just about all the Alfas since the 90's at some point - can't be without one). And I must say I think I prefer this over my last 4200 coupe cc... though I'm missing the robotic gearbox - which at the time I seemed to be the only fan of... and I've seen quite a few posts here from GS owners and 4200 owners discovering the joy of it... But for me I don't want to work to hard... The looks and comments from Jag/Aston/Merc drivers is pleasure enough....

Anyway I've just snagged that the Goodwood FOS is celebrating Maserati's centenary this year - so was going to pop down on the Friday... anyone else going ?... Convoy ?

Fangio - congrats on your purchase buddy. However, I have to say that the vid was so very cheesey - the sales rep needs to do his homework. Car looks very clean (as expected with <20k miles). Enjoy.
PS: Quadruple check the small print of your warranty and look at the cash limits for: total pay out / max claim limit / max labour allowance / wear and tear criteria.

Buy yourself a Cetek battery conditioner - an absolute must for GT's. What will you do about the NavTrak?

I'm a sucker for a good salesman...the warranty was a bit of a bonus to be honest - I guess as good as these things get.. Having had a very economical ride with my 4200 I'm a pretty confident owner - and though they've been pretty good on the whole I've had 5 Alfa's over the years - so reasonably adept at dealing with minor/major niggles myself... and in the dim and distant past done everything from welding to engine rebuilds... (Fiats, Fords, vauxhalls and Renaults... oh and a TR7 ! )

So really I'm not in the slightest bit worried about looking after it.. I've a standard Halfords automatic Charger / conditioner.. cat see why that won't do the trick and to be honest this will work hard for a living - so won't be standing idle many days..

Nav Trak I think sorted now, signed up and just a "functionality test" to do... - which might explain the 'phone issues thinking about it ..

Anyway... pleased to be back ... all accomplished without the Wife's knowledge or consent till she came home on the bus early just as I returned from picking it up..... Face was a picture... and I think it could of gone either way... But secretly I think she likes them just as much as me...

I'm in Reading, by the way.. you may spot me shuttling up and down the A4 or on the way to or from Chinnor...

beautiful machine, welcome! I had the same Swiss Tony-style video recently at BMW when I picked up an X1...is this a new trend?!

Welcome to the forum.
Great pic, love the car.
Look forward to seeing it for real at Goodwood.
Planning to be there from Thursday to Saturday. Given its Glastonbury weekend I'm watching the weather. Not sure I fancy getting the Masser stuck in the mud:battered:

Pray for sunshine... I can recall a disastrous silverstone years ago that got very wet... they had tractors pulling all sorts of exotica out of the mud... including our large Winnebago full of some blokes who'd drunk so much we nearly hurt ourselves...

If that happens at Goodwood then I might be inclined just to leave it dry out and sample the delights of Bognor nightlife ....

John,

I've just booked my Goodwood tickets... All Maserati qualify for their Supercar Parking paddock... They tell me that this year they are using a hard surface to keep the dust down... or deal with anything soggy....

So maybe Bognor is off the agenda...

Festival... all a bit last minute... not been for a few years as it's been getting very busy.. Hoping the Friday is slightly less frantic.

Thank you Andyk..... I'm discovering that the Nero paintwork only looks that good when it's spotless..... so that's my saturday morning taken care of....must find time to clear the garage !
