Auto Italia Letter about new QP

In a letter from Gray Paul, one of the salesmen commented that he was please that AI had stated correctly that the engine/s were designed in house by Maserati and not Ferrari derived....correct or?

Maserati designed it with Ferrari money who build them and it was trialed in the coupe.

That's how I always saw it.

As Ferrari Build/Cast the Block I always thought that the block design as well as the casting was done by Ferrari. Then each block went off to the different assembly plants to be built into their corresponding engines, 4.2/4.7 and 4.3
But It would be interesting to know if that's not the case.

Just to add, I assumed that the Actual Engine Design and build (in totality) was done by the 2 different Companies.
