Wife and I are thinking of visiting Miami early March, anyone been and got any advice on where to stay.
I am a bit lazy on doing research blah blah so hope to cheat a bit by learning from your experiences.
I do fancy visiting the Cuban quarter and also South Beach and or Miami Beach and like the idea of one of the Art Deco hotels.
We will go for a week and would happily change hotels once during the week.
Any advice welcome

A long time ago ((69) we flew into Miami and were surprised by the distance to Miami Beach - it is a seperate town. Taxi to our hotel went across toll bridges and when we got there found we were staying in an old art deco hotel very close to the Fontainebleau Hotel which looked fabulous. Since then the beach has been widened with imported sand and the whole place transformed into an art deco benchmark. The other surprise was sales tax ie VAT differed between Miami and Mimi Beach. A hire car is essential.

Fabulous place, can get VERY Humid so keep an eye on the temps and your travel time.
It’s not a huge place so any of the big hotels are well placed or indeed some of the smaller ones on Collins Ave.
Once you’re in the centre everything is easily walkable....South Beach etc.
Enjoy.

Yes, and I liked it very much. It feels more like Latin America than the US. Last stay was at a Hilton somewhere - I forget which one, but there are plenty of good hotels. Eating is good. Exploit the jetlag and watch the sunrise from down on the beach.

I love Miami !! Stay in south beach. Best place for direct access to nice beaches, restaurants, bars and clubs. Delano was by far the best and trendiest hotel - at least last time I got there. Used to be owned by Madonna not sure where that’s still the case. An Art Deco marvel with all the style you’d need from Philippe Stark

I lived there in 1999/2000 and go once a year since, great place. Huge cultural mix. A bit of the US, a bit of Latin America. I have recently rented a great apartment on Collins that is practically on the ocean, PM me if you want the owners contact information. You'll want a car too, to get around, and they are dirt cheap and good quality. I can give you specific pointers via PM too as to things to see. There is an amazing car museum, and just passing through the car dealers in Miami and Fort Lauderdale will make your mouth water.

I went in 1989, my (then) wife wanted to go to key west , that's a long drive , 166 miles at 55mph is really boring
