In case anyone is interested, I went to see this car last week. It was registered 30.04.02 so one of the last and being # 74 of the ACs, it is the last manual as # 75 is an auto. The bodywork has some rust around the arches that will need doing as will a rust patch that has started at the bottom corner of the o/s tail light so it's the usual places. Aside from the that, the bodywork looks pretty good. The interior is in good shape if a little grubby but everything seems to work and there are no warning lights showing. It recently passed it's MOT with no advisories I was told.
The current owner has asked Barrian Cars to sell it for him as he is emigrating, they recently sold his red 1996 Ghibli for him which is still in the showroom waiting to be collected.
The AC drove pretty well with no noticeable rattles or squeaks and goes and stops in a straight line.
However, the engine recently failed due to end float. It has been taken off the road while this was done and does not have an in date tax disc so I am guessing that once this happened, the owner wanted to get it back saleable and then pass it on.
He bought a second hand bottom end engine from Bill Magrath which had covered 61,000 miles. This engine was in an auto car previously looked after by Bill Magrath but suffered a blown head gasket and the car was broken. The only history I could ascertain from the replacement bottom end engine was that at 47,202 miles on 05.06.08 it had the cam belt & chain done but it doesn't seem like it has been looked at since. This replacement engine was then fitted into the AC by a different garage, not Bill Magrath, and it's now ready to sell.
Looking at the current MOT certificate it has covered less than 3,000 miles since 2010.
The car has the red key & 2 black keys and evidence of the service history (no invoices or stamped book) has been provided, I am guessing verbally, has been obtained by Maranello Egham up to when the current owner bought the car back in 2006. So far, there is no service history available since the current owner bought the car but I am told this is on it's way.
They also seem open to offers so it could end up being a decent purchase if the rest of the history and details of what was done when the replacement engine was fitted emerges.
Just wanted to pass this on if anyone was wondering
