Am I tempting fate with how I use the 3200GT as weekend family wagon?

That's not strictly true, 4200's are worse for corrosion due to Fiat getting involved followed be early QP's

Dave

Dunno about that Dave!! I have seen 3200s on the lifts at the indi I used to go to with rust in the arches suspension and underside to an extent that I can only describe as shameful for a modern car... In three years of going to meets I have never seen a 4200 or GS rust like that...

Hope all went well Monaco. It seems to easy to talk yourself out of taking the Maserati out, especially with the family. I had the same dilemma on New Year’s Day for a trip to the coast and got inspiration from watching Harry’s Garage (Harry Metcalf, former Evo magazine editor) on youtube with him taking his Ferrari Testarossa from the Cotswolds to the Sahara Desert! Crazy and inspirational in equal measure.

Anyway, the 3200 ran perfect for me and it was great to share a run out with the wife and kids.

Thanks. it went very well for me and that's hilarious about Harry's Garage, as I had the same moment of inspiration from watching him taken the Testarossa to the Sahara, and given my In-Laws are just up the road from him, I was adamant not to wimp out.

The car ran brilliantly and it was a fantastic run (probably one of the most fun I've had in a while) but then this morning when starting it, the revs went up to 3,000RPM on tickover. I reset the throttle position and it appears to be ok, but certainly made the drive out to meet my folks for lunch in Worcs a bit worrying. However, on the M40 coming home the car behaved perfectly, so fingers crossed.

Cheers,

Brilliant, one good thing about big V8s is that they usually have good heaters. I had to dig out the winter woolies today.

more likely the TB sticking than the pedal sensor? the ECU blips the throttle on start and if the TB is sticking it the revs stay high. It will be ok while you are dirving probably but it probably needs stripped and cleaned at least.

Thanks Davy, much appreciated. I've just had the throttle body off and cleaned it up and the car seems better, so really appreciate the advice.

Well, after a prolonged road test out to a nice pub and the Wife driving it home (she refused previously), it is a different car. Thanks again to Davy83, as it has transformed the car, so I'll definitely be using it more :)

I let mine take the Assetto Corsa to work a few times. "It doesn't feel like I'm only doing 30" That's the rev counter dear!!!!! lol
