All Hail The Continental Sport Contact 6

I've been running factory spec P Zeros all round since I bought my car almost a year ago. The rears were replaced just prior to me picking it up so have plenty of tread left but the fronts were part worn.

I wasn't a fan of P Zeros on my AC and in the last 1,000 miles or so, they have been pretty terrible on the GTS too. Admittedly, they were getting to the end of their life and it was during the winter months with cold tarmac and temperatures but the front has been very fidgety and the tramlining has been awful. I was seriously thinking that the geo was out and was ready to get it booked in.

Last week I had a pair of SC6s fitted and the car is transformed - rock solid, super grippy and decent in the wet too. I've had them on for a couple of hundred miles and can thoroughly recommend them. They were £180 each inc VAT, valve & balance at my local indie and I will certainly put them on the back too when the time comes.

Just wanted to pass on a quick review if anyone is thinking of trying them out

Excellent...I do not like the P Zeros at all and was looking to change brand once the time comes. Seems like these are the ones to go for.

Maserati also supply some of their cars new with Contis and they certainly seem a good improvement so far

The P-Zeros on my Ghibli are shite in low temperatures. I will not be replacing them with anything made by Pirelli as I have never found their tyres to be as good as other makes.

Same as on my MC Shift. Dislike these tyres intensely. You can almost feel the tread blocks squirm and when it lets go it is not pleasant. I am seriously looking at dropping £900 to £1000 to replace with Contis or Michelins before Le Mans.

MAF with you - when cold they just do not inspire confidence. I can only liken it to a Dunlop D204 motorbike tyre - you may as well put marbles on each corner and pray.

Lots of chitter about the Pirellis in the past. I hate them with a passion. They're just not suited to our changeable climate. Fine when warmed, utterly terrifying when cold. When the time comes, I'll bin mine for Contis, Pilot Sports or the like. Anything else really. It amazes me that the manufacturers still spec them from new, irrespective of the price they get them for from Pirelli. All that time spent honing and testing suspension and handling etc spoiled by unsuitable rubber. I wonder if that's why Maserati added an MGT tread Conti to their line up retrospectively.

Sounds like we all have the same experience - it's like the tread blocks skip sideways at low speeds. I thought something was seriously wrong with the car when I first got it - very noticeable at low temperatures and also at parking manoeuvring speeds. Once they're warmed up I find they're absolutely fine in bot wet and dry conditions.

Good feedback Stuart - Was looking at Michelin or Conti's and your vote has swung it - Just ordered 2 Conti's for my rear to replace Pirelli's

I'm a big fan of the Contis generally (although I have Pilot Sports on the 3200). I very nearly went for them when I replaced the fronts last July, but I don't like mixing brands on the car so stuck to the Michelins, which I think are ok also. Not a lover of Pirelli tyres on the bikes. How a tyre can wear out so quickly without delivering any grip is beyond me, but they manage it.

I'm not a fan of mixing brands either but my rears are fine for now. As soon they start to misbehave like the fronts did though, they'll be off for sure

Pirelli Diablos on a ZX10 R - It felt like I had signed a pact with the grim reaper. No feedback and just let go. And Trev -spot on - atrocious wear. Replaced with Michelin's and the bike was a different proposition.

Spot on, I found the Power Ones were superb on my R1, and they never turned blue or felt like jelly!

I'm a big fan of Michelin PS3 & 4's.

A little bit noisy on a quiet car, shouldn't even notice it on a Maser.

I could have saved £80 by putting PS3s on the back but decided I wanted them all matching

235/40/18 £97.49+ vat
265/35/18 £144.99 + vat

That includes £7 per tyre fit and balance
Total was £586.75 all in

Starting today Costco have £50 off 4 bridgestones

Are you sure they will do the ContiSportContact 6 in 285/35R20? Currently only available in that size as the ContiSportContact 5P.

I'm not sure, no, but I've been told that they're coming - hopefully in time for when my rears are worn
