Have to say that I love my two older cars.
I am fortunate enough to live in Poole and have Emblem on my doorstep; they have looked after the 4200 for nine years now and haven't put a foot wrong; more to the point they treat it as though they owned it.
Annual service time and I felt I had seen enough of the damnable stone chips on bonnet; so am having the whole front resprayed, grille powder-coated black and the surround and trident re-chromed. Headlamps have been re-ground to look as new. Have just been to see it and it looks like a new car ..really. I cannot wait for Emblem to complete the brakes etc and have it back.
They are so thorough when they have the car, the slightest thing is picked up. This time a tiny rust spot beginning on the inside of the boot lid - now attended to.
I have said before, and say again, this car is forever so nothing is spared to keep it perfect. Next year must fix the sticky switch issue.

Oh and the other car I love; my Mini Cooper (see posting about 'garage or car-port' for pix).

I was coming to this chore also...
Unfortunately, having asked my local guy, who Id trust to do a decent job at a good rate, I've realsed that having used Sonax PolyNetshield on the panels, he wont touch it !
It contains silicon. I ended up doing all the bike parts this winter for the same reason.Including the carbon fibre, which believe me, is time consuming to get right !! Adding the odd drop of silicon via pipette to the paint/lacquer ensures coverage. I dont think I have the skills, or the appropriate warmed/ventilated/dust free space for larger pieces like the bonnet and rear & front bumpers. I need to find a bodyshop who cater for this eventuality...

The 4200 is home again now following the little present for its 15th birthday.
Really very happy with the work completed - re-powder-coated mesh grille, re-chromed calendar, polished headlights and complete re-spray from doors forward.

Note to self; have to get rid of the dead flies from inside the side-lights!!!!

Looks great. If you dont mind me asking, how much was it to get the whole front re-sprayed?

Included the polishing of the headlights, and a little rust removal on the bootlid interior lip (get 'em done before they spread).
Just above the magic £1K

If in doubt, it's probably worth doing. The grille and chrome calendar were on top obviously; and Emblem still had to refit everything; beautifully of course as is their way!
When I collected the car it was like going to a new car showroom 15 years ago when these beauties were first on sale. Emblem always hand your car back in perfect condition.
