That was a great read...Thanks for posting.....As you say the Ferrari is on a different league to the Maserati.....It's like Ferrari held Maserati back as some of the up to date tech was never used in Maserati...

A great write up, thanks. A lovely car, a highlight for me was a spirited drive in the AC in convoy with Graypauls 458 Spyder demonstrator, which was finished in a yellow colour with a hint of gold, stunning.

It is a stunning looking car. It would be top of anyone's list to own - and a gorgeous colour combination.
It says a lot that there the GTS has ANYTHING to compare favourably with the 458 (Exhaust Sound and 4 seats / practicality etc).
Its half the price.
Does the Ford Kuga Titanium (Half the price of a good GTS) have anything over its competitor? :)

:) Thanks Iain. That's a funny comment you make,.....made me smile lol The Maserati has F car pedigree so not quite a comparison about the FORD you make there. The engine for which we hear that amazing sound through the pipes is an adaptation of the F430 engine and the gearbox shares a lot with the 599!

I don't suppose you were driving yesterday? Near Angel? I saw a beautiful black 458 as I was cycling home. Sounded lovely.

Nope not me :)

She was tucked up in the garage yesterday as all we had was heavy rain all day.

I wasn't saying it negatively - I was commenting on cost.
The facts are the 458 is an unbelievable super car and worth every penny.
The GTS I think is incredible value for money and as you say has F car pedigree.

The point I was trying to make is that brand new cars nowadays are eye wateringly bad value for money if you consider the overall ownership experience. 30+ for a 3 series, 25+ for some fords..
And to get a 4.2 GT for sub 30..

Totally off-topic... but continuing the point you started, I think the actual price of new cars is less relevant now because they are generally bought on some kind of lease / PCP / etc plan, for a few k down, and chunk of salary every month and then a hefty balloon at the end. Who looks at the actual price when the advertised "price" is £x99 per month [with the cheaper cars demanding lots of exclamation marks at this point]".

Anyway, you're right, our cars are amazingly good value compared to what else you could get for the money. Sure, they cost a bit more to run, but every turn of the car and push of the pedal makes it worth every penny.

It just shows what she thinks of the new car. Totally non plussed - like the wife.
She has 'glanced' in it once in the first 3 weeks of ownership.
