Went to have a look at a couple at Rardleys down by Hindhead Tunnel, of course enjoying the tunnel while I was there as well
Initial impression is - I love them! Most I have seen are Tour de France, Le Mans or Scuro blue anyway and all have either a tan or crema interior. The interior is very simple and hasn't really dated because of it - the updated 456M is nicer but not 15k nicer so an early car for me, just over £30k I reckon with a manual box and 40k miles.
Didn't drive one as I am not in a postion to buy yet but the fleet must change... Probably end up with DB9, 456 and Marcos for now, then DB9, E-Type and Range Rover later.
What does the collective wisdom of the forum know about them? Googling gives little away, they are a forgotten car. Not fast enough to make headlines and not unloved, just passed over, I guess for the 550. The generous backseats (I sat in them) are a prime reason for my interest and I think the car will get use as its very different from the DB9 whereas the 550 would be a rival for my affections.
Something about the lines evokes my favourite Ferrari the 365 Daytona - so I'd get the looks, more pace, better handling, decent reliability for a 10th of the price. Think it'd be a good entry into Ferrari ownership, though an odd idea to use a Ferrari as a GT and a DB9 as a sports car, but that's me
Right, I'm braced for the horror stories featuring mates of mates of mates who had a shopping trolley ding that cost 60 grand to sort or self combusting gearboxes and so on. Let 'em rip!
