If it turns out that someone requires a power steering motor, I have a spare healthy one!! As I had the same problem about 8 months ago and I was badly mis-diagnosed by 2 different garages 4 times!!! Turned out to be the rad in the end which they replaced with a bespoke racing one for £250 to make up for their mistakes.

Glad to be of help

Mine was the HP pipe and the leak was minor so the system didn't run dry / out of fluid, so no damage.

Don't see why you cant crop the pipe and use a longer bit of hose for the LP / return pipe.

But the hoses are not that expensive so probably worth renewing both if one failed then you would see any tell tale metal particles when you drain the system if there is a bigger problem.

The black secondary air pipe is used so as part of the emissions control when a cold start i think, if it is holed the car would probably not idle very well or EML would come on.

The underside is quite thick where the metal is folded so unlikely that is holed

Also the pipes should not be able to touch, check the brackets are all in place and not been bent during previous work

I thought that was just the folded underside of the big pipe too... but if you look it is actually a little separate pipe that goes in to the side of the air v/v? Possibly a little pilot line?

Oh yes, see what you mean, inspect with a mirror and hopefully no damage.

At least only a vacuum line so sure you could repair easily

pipe came today from eurospares, couple of hrs removal, and fitting, bled through and started...

JOB'S A SAUSAGE :)

in hindsight when checking for the leak i shoulda jacked both wheels up and got someone to turn the wheel instead of topping it bk up and starting it again.

still everything is dandy. wernt any metal particles seen when draining or flushing.

thanks again GP!
