After reading many post on 4200 Non Auditorium speaker upgrades and having a blown rear quarter speaker I decided to take the plunge and purchased a pair of Focal ICU 570 for the rear quarter and a pair of Focal 165AC for the front. Fitting the fronts was straight forward except for the fact that the original speaker sits on 4 legs and if you want any mid/base at all you have to fill the four gaps to ensure the back of the speaker is isolated from the front. I used a dense expanded plastic packing material cut to fill each of the gaps (4 each side) making sure that the sat proud of the leg so that when the speaker was screwed down it compressed them to make an airtight seal. Without these the sound from the fronts is awful but with them fitted so much better than the stock paper ones. BTW I also disconnected the tweeter as the focal's are coaxial with a directional adjustable tweeter. On to the rears and as many have pointed out the factory originals have a much smaller opening and the focal's would not fit. So out with the dremel and a tungsten carbide burr and a much larger opening can easily be made in a about half an hour. You will also need to make some new hole for the 4 fixing screws. Make sure you cover everything and where glasses as metal shards fly everywhere!! I then used Kilmat which is the same a dynamat but a lot cheaper on the inside skin of the outer quarter panels and some around the speaker opening. I also disconnected the factory rears. This has transformed the sound and I would highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys listening to music on those long motorway runs.
