Chaps,

Some quick intel needed....

I've seen on here about getting a windscreen replaced but have been assured that Autoglass will do a porpoer job....I've been slightly comforted by them saying "we would prefer not to do that one on your drive".

So....when I ordered the screen, I was told that it would be "an exact replacement for the one that it left the factory with" which was what I wanted. I've since been told that this will have a "blue sun strip, thats all thats available" - off the top of my head, I cant remember what mine is!

Quesiton is.....does that sound right or does it sound like a non-Maserati part? I've had a look on Eurospares and can only see one screen, but I'm not sure what colour sunstrip that would have.

http://www.eurospares.co.uk/searchResult_one.asp?M=&Mo=&A=&B=&ID4=&S=67746100&SO=1&SB=3&SM=&SMo=&O=0

Any intel would be appreciated.

Cheers
Woody

OK, cheers Newton.

I was told it would be as it left the factory.....then someone rang back and said "we've only got the blue sunstrip..." Will dig the car out when I'm home later, but so long as its OEM, I'm fine with it. Its dear enough!!

It's unlikely it will be etched maserati but will be "factory" standard unless you have told them it needs to have the etching..

It's pretty much one company that does all the windscreens unless it's a very strange shape so it will be the same company who made you old and new, just might not have the etching as I said

Hmm....that interesting. I was told it would be OEM. I'll check, thanks.

Woody

On my screen, manufacturers markings are identical to Newton's & has the blue band @ the top
rear screen is also manufactured by the same company
strip is part of the arieal - rear screen also has an aerial - both linked

Newton, is your car a 2002 or 2003? I think that might be the last year of when the screen was made. Checked mine this morn, and it was "..6". Screen is in being done now, at the appropiately named 'Trident Centre' (bascially, Autoglass' name for the building they're in....hopfully a good sign! :)

not sure it works like that Woody, mine is a late 2006 build but has the same markings as Newton's

OK, thanks chaps. Had it all done, looks to have the right markings, this one is "..6" as with the original.

I have to say, I've been pleasantly surprised by the attention they gave the car. Based on some feedback from other threads, I feared it was going to be a right botch job! Seems to have gone well and George at Autoglass Watford sounds like he's done a car or two in his time.

Reasuring at least; they don't have the greatest reputation around but they also do a very many cars so proportionally they are probably as goods as any... How's the radio signal?

The GS's don't have the NIT of the 4200CC do they? isn't it just a regular head unit, it could just be the ariel out of the back perhaps? Probably worth a check anyway.

Whats the 'NIT'?

I dont think theres anything wrong with it, as such, I think GSs are just terrible when it comes to radio reception. Its why a few are starting to get the BMW-like sharks fin aerials.

THe NIT is the big old unit in the armrest on the 4200's pretty crummy but integral to the vehicle as all the info on the display is chanelled through it; including A/C settings, trip, nav and all the audio!
