4200 Front Bumper. Advice and opinions needed.

I've removed the front bumper on my 4200 in order to change the engine radiator. However having done that it's become obvious that the main bumper attachment brackets have disolved, just leaving some rusty bits behind. I've attached some pictures showing a strip of rusty metal attached the the back of the plastic bumper. Also pictures of the rusty remains still attached to the box section running across the front of the chassis. I can't see these parts on the Eurospares parts diagrams. Does anyone know if the brackets are part of the bumper and not available as separate items? If that's the case what's the solution?

Hi, Iv'e just had exactly the same issue myself, but mine was far worse than yours! the support bar is not available separately, it is part of the bumper. I had to make a new bar with the help of a friend as I don't have access to a welder anymore, you will have to either do it yourself, or get a metal fabricator to make one for you, Will attach some pics when I can be ar**d to re-size them.

Thanks for that. Pictures would be really helpful. could you tell me how the support bar is attached to the bumper? There's a dense foam strip behind the remains of the support bar and the rusty strip seems to have attached itself to that. If I could remove it without damaging the plastic bumper that would be a start.

No bother. Credit due to FIFTY though for posting about the problem.
Something for everyone to keep an eye on.

Yes I agree and a set of drawings or a dimension'd sketch would be a good idea to make life easier for anyone else attempting to do this. I'll ask my son if he'll produce a CAD drawing of the brackets and that could possibly find a home somewhere on this forum?

That is actually different to mine (Gransport), I had two brackets that attached to the fixings from the splitter. The foam support just pulls out, then you can see the profile that the support beam needs to follow. I had a piece of 3mm sheet steel bent to give a piece 40mmx40mm and the length of the bar, (can't remember what it was), If that area of yours is the same as mine you will see the contour that the bar needs to follow on the foam as an indentation, it is not a straight edge where it goes around the foam.
