2005 ‘Facelift' Model Differences

The main change is to the front & rear bumpers, the front is fitted with a horizontally ribbed radiator grille inspired by that of the Quattroporte. It is one that reflects the 'family' feel of the range. The rear bumper is also new. It is sportier and features wide air intakes shielded by a black, tight mesh grille. The link with the Quattroporte is reinforced in the Coupé with the placing of the classic oval and arrow Trident badge on the rear side panels, as styled by Frua in 1963.

With the Year 2005 model, the interior can be contrasted with different coloured leathers for the central zone of the seats, dashboard and upper door panels. The instrumentation boasts new, sporty blue and white graphics that are easier to read.

The seven-spoke rims are now standard while the fifteen-spoke rims remain an optional extra. The aluminium coloured kit on the console and the door moulding will now be standard.

Other modifications have been made to the interior with the central tunnel having been redesigned with a bigger storage compartment.

The reverse gear lever now has a D (for Drive) option for selecting first gear. To complete the changes, the new Coupé and Spyder models come with an extra metallic paint finish, 'Rame Ghibli'.

The CC gearbox on the 2005 4200 facelift model has an identical software setup, called ‘sofast 1+' to the Gransport,

The 2005 4200 facelift also has the same gear selection lever as the Gransport, allowing forward and reverse on this lever instead of paddle for forward, and incline brake assist.

The 2005 4200 facelift suspension software, setup and geometry is also identical to the Gransport

So, that is saying that the face lift 4200 is in fact a Gransport without the interior.

The face lift came out after the gs and just before production stopped. A way to shift the remaining cars.....spec them up to gs levels.

.....so they timed that one well......."What fancy bits have we got in the parts bin Luigi!?"

So a late facelifted ( is was quite a bit more than a facelift BTW!) 4200 is the way to go for a 2005 car...and save £5/6/7K?

So in reality....just 10BHP down....some minor interior stuff....where the actual suspension parts the same...as opposed to software differences?

Thanks Frank, this is useful.

I think the suspension is the same but the Gransport is set 10mm lower. I am thinking the next time I get my tracking set I may get mine dropped 10mm in height.

Obviously wheels, side skirts, rear spoiler, valved exhaust boxes are all differences.

The big upside with the facelift coupe is you can still have it in manual (but I would say that wouldn't I).

IMHO the horizontally ribbed radiator grille is not a pretty thing, but a mesh grill was an option (as were yellow calipers for the 1st time).

Cheers

I am probably in the minority - I prefer the grey front grille as I think the Trident shows off much better than against the mesh.

I was about to get the mesh then changed my mind.

With you on the manual though nfm!!

There for go BB ... Keep hold of it as it's also rare, unlike the more common GS.
