The post regarding wheel colours has got me thinking about wheel options again and what factory options were available for the 3200.

Other than the standard and AC wheels were any other options available?
What are peoples thoughts on aftermarket wheels for the 3200?

Cheers
Lee

I have a later 3200 which essentially has the 4200 wheels on it and i liked these from the start so never considered after market. I think the original wheels are part of the cars identity and i am not sure non Maserati wheels will help the value. I also think the original wheels are well made and if cared for will look good long term. i have not seen many with after market wheels and those i have seen i did not particularly like. I put after market wheels on both of my TVR's for a number of reasons, with one of them the brake upgrade meant the old wheels did not fit any more so i had no choice. But both of them looked ok to me. I think it depends what you like? its your car after all.

I've just fitted a set of Formula Dynamics (made by Forgestar I believe, their F14) wheels to my 4200, which are also available for the 3200. Same 18" size currently fitted with std 235/265 tyres.
They have transformed the look of the car!

^ Agree with Davy. I have an AC which also has the 4200 style wheels, or should I say the 4200 has the AC style wheels! Only difference I have mine coated black.

As far as I know the AC only had one style and colour of wheel, the multispoke, they did not fit the later 4200 wheels to the AC at any time..!! The early 4200's did have the same wheel but different colour..!!

We have decided to keep ours absolutely original, in fact a local wheel restorer could not guarantee the correct colour so I did not let him do them, all part of the genuine providence for me..!!

A wise move I would think, especially with it being 75/75. In years to come It will be good to see the last AC as it left the factory. :)

That's the thinking Allan, let's hope it works, I don't mind getting £100K for it in a few years..!!

I want new wheels for mine, but iv been searching since I bought the car
And haven't come across anything suitable yet, I'd like to find something with 285 or 295 rear tyres in a 19" and keeping the 235 on the front

My FD wheels are half an inch wider than stock, so you can go wider than stock, if you so wish.
Really think twice about 19's, there really isn't much rubber and hence why you hear about cracked GS rims.

I do like the 4200 style rims, they look great...but I really wanted to keep the old banger originali!..

To be honest the old school 3200 wheels still looks very good..the styles unique to Maserati! and everybody knows it!
