In Meridien yesterday to have some tlc to the QP and spotted 2 3200s next to each other on the ramps. One was being canabolised to make the second one perfect.

The cost was obviously considerable but the consensus was 'these cars are on the up' and soon that 'up' could be big time.

Why not? Icons are always realised eventually.

Remember one of my first post on the 'old site' where I asked if/when keeping a 3200 would be a none depreciation option.

Most said £12k but having seen one yesterday at £5k, I still belive [without rose tinted glasses] that unless the car is almost perfect, with low miles or given a full restoration they will continue to drop to spares value.

I know of at least a couple of people looking for a 3200, as must have boomerangs and vents.

IMO they will only appreciate once they become truly scarce. At least 20 years away from anything meaningful.

Would love mine to appreciate in value, but that's not why we brought them and although they cost more to run than mosts cars you won't loose a fortune if you look after it. They have rear lights and bonnet vents to die for, and are as quick as a 4200 and GS when on the move, so appreciate so lets just appreciate what we have, a cheap and very quick good looking car.

When demand outstrips supply then the values will increase. Same as it ever was. The 3200 does have the potential to appreciate rather than disappear altogether, as the boomies are already regarded as iconic of the modern era Maserati's (and it is a h£ll of a car to boot). Checking the average values I'd say the 4200 will fair worse and sooner with decent 3200's already at parity.

Perhaps Miles....but the joker for the 4200 range are the Spyders, LEs, then a nice GS to consider............having said that is the AC special enough?

There is potential for sought after modern Masers to appreciate if Maseratis plans to massively increase global sales are successful. This will bring so much more attention to the brand and expand the fan base which inevitably will trickle down into more interest in some of the modern classics. How long that takes though is anybodys guess.

No, absolutely Frank. The AC is something else, as are Spyders which it can be argued have already crossed the supply / demand threshold. I've not included GS's, whatever the spec in my thinking, but rather predominantly pre facelift 4200's. Nothing to do with their capabilities or improved(?) reliability, as they're great cars, but just their financial value based on comparative desirability / availability to prospective owners.

Hello all,

I do own a 3200 so a little bias but we may be entering the era of less 3200's being available on the road. Those cars still out there need to be the best and have all the required works done etc.

Those wishing to buy into the Boomerang 3200 need to know what they are getting into, research is still key!

As mentioned there are less Cars on the road and they are becoming more desirable ,

As a note if you get the right car - they are the best fun! Speed, entry level to super cars, people turn and stare and great fun!

At the moment - Ford Mondeo money but so much value for your bucks!

Regards
