Last year I repainted the springs and as a consequence had to dismantle each spring assembly. When I refitted I had a suspension error light which an independent believes maybe due to the red actuator not fully seating on the spline on the top of the damper shaft as diagnostic reported as "spinning". I have just removed the first strut and found top of shaft splines level with brass castellated cup and I'm trying to find out if anyone knows the dimension it should extend above cup or could measure this off a damper and spring assembly that might be off a car?
I discovered that I had reinstated the black taper washer upside down so optimistic this will resolve issue. The only other item where I could gain an improvement is the large disc with a recess. I believe from manual this should face up but again if anyone can confirm I would appreciate it
