Hi all, what is the best/easiest way to determine if a 3200 is series 1 or 2? Looking at Roose coolant hoses the cut off is chassis no4783, mine is a 2001 ending 3705 but it has the 2 silver pots in front of the engine so series 2? Or am I getting chassis no and vin no mixed up.

Mine is 2001 3908 and is definitely series 2. Has also those silver pots in front of engine and therefore Euro3 spec engine management/emissions + 16pin obd socket and "new type" MIL light. I think those are most obvious signs to have series 2 GT?

I reckon my car is also series 2 as it has the silver pots, an ODBII socket and I think series 2 also had a mapping upgrade on the ESU making driving experience better, and I reckon my car has that as its pretty nice to drive :). I think the ODBII socket is the biggest sign.

And I'm told be good authority the later cars also have the AC spec quicker steering rack

The Roose serial number info is misleading.

The series 2 or later car does have a lot more hoses, a bigger kit.

I wouldn't go by the serial number, just check to see which hoses you have. But it's generally 2001 on I think...

The silver pots are secondary air injection/evap control for emissions reduction and did complicate the under bonnet.

If you look at my "assetto corsa winter works" thread, you will see pictures of hoses etc, I ordered the Roose series 2 kit fro my 2001 AC and had one ectra hose made up for the coolant expansion tank, which should now be available.

Hi all,
I am a new member. Mine is a GTA 2001, chassis no:3588. It has the OBDII socket and the EURO 3 emissions pump and I recently checked with Maserati who confirmed it is a series 2, later car.

First series or second series is easy to understand, but Assembly Number is more accurate. The Assembly Number, not VIN, is on the red plaque in front of the engine room.

The pipes change at Assembly Number 4783.
Wouldn't it be ?

My bad, the original poster's question was about coolant hoses, not boost ones.

https://roosemotorsport.co.uk/maserati-3200gt-coolant-hose-kit-579
The only difference in the coolant hoses is 585042200 and 585042201, which changed at Assembly Number 4855.

Regardless, I want to emphasize that the Assembly Number is what matters, not the VIN.
