3200 rear crank seal; engine out?

My car is in having some bits done ready for the season. One of the items was to investigate an oil leak. Turns out its three oil leaks. One from the rear crank seal, one from a cam cover gasket and another from the front of the engine, source TBC. Is it possible to replace the rear crank seal without removing the engine? I thought I saw someone on here had the clutch replaced and the seal at the same time...

Thanks in advanced, Al

You can replace the rear Crankshaft seal by removing the gearbox, mine was done by McGraths when I had the clutch changed. It quite a time consuming job particularly if the exhaust bolts are seized and you should also consider replacing the spigot bearing and clutch (if yours is a manual car) at the same time.

Thanks for this. I just spent 10 minutes looking at the Eurospares pictures and came to that conclusion.

I'll wait to see if the front seal is weeping too as I suspect this is the other source. I hate having Maserati OCD. If this was any other car I wouldn't be bothered but I just have to have this fixed.... Are clutches even available ATM?

Eurospares are showing Pattern clutch kit for £395 plus vat and stock. Hope they are right, if not there are other options.

Had a pattern clutch delivered from ES last week. Don't need it right away but as with other parts for 3200, I'm taking a "get it while you can" approach. Sachs Germany were offering a performace clutch kit for E1000 a few months ago but I was advised against it for road use.

How does it look? I may just order one whether I need it or not for exactly that reason.
