3200 GT 2000 Will Not Start - And no Power To Car At All

Hi there,
Well after 2 years of happy motoring in my 3200 GT and plenty spent on the car to bring the service history and regular maintenance upto date i.e. cam belts, brakes etc.

This morning i went to start the 3200 GT and nothing.

Well nothing from the door blipper to start with which was odd, got in via the door key no problem, but when key in ignition nothing appears on the dash, no lights, nothing.

So checked the battery which was new last Feb, and i have the car on trickle charge all the time to keep the battery in good condition.

Trickle charger says its fully chargedd as does my separate battery charger which i connected to the battery as a double check.

As a re-check i connected the battery terminals back on and attached a charger again and the lights in the car flash on and off and the sterio makes a very loud popping noise, so disconnected straight away.

I know these old girls can be a bit tempremental, so maybe its something obvious i have over looked ?

Any help appreciated before i call the RAC to have a look ?

Many thanks.

Simon

Sounds like a battery to me despite what you said. What voltage is it measuring on a DMM?

well its clear you are not getting power from the battery to the electrical system. The most likely cause is the battery itself. could be poor wiring to the battery, or a mass fuse blowing session, but I would try another battery.

Thanks for the replies, i agree that it sounds like a battery issue.

Infact i have nailed it down to a faulty trickle charger, and the second charger i used to check was also old, so in the bin both of them and purchased a new charger, and i now have power in the car, no noises, and slowly charging. So fingers crossed the 3200 will fire back after a day on charge.

Many thanks.
